Tish Cyrus Says She Went to Therapy With Husband Dominic Purcell Two Weeks Into Dating

Tish Cyrus‘ husband, Dominic Purcell, did not waste any time when it came to doing the work to build their whirlwind romance.
On the latest episode of the Sorry We’re Stoned podcast, Tish reveals that she and the Prison Break star went to therapy together — two weeks into their relationship.
In the first week that we met, he had told me that he does therapy once a month and he has for 20 years, and I had went to therapy with him,” the 57-year-old told her guest, Mark Groves.
Tish clarified that the joint session happened “two weeks” into their relationship, and Dominic was clear about his intentions and the work that he wanted to do to support her, after she came into the relationship following her divorce from Billy Ray Cyrus.
“It was really good,” she says. “And one of the first things he said in therapy was, I just want to make sure I’m not pushing Tish too fast into the relationship and, like, she’s just gone through a divorce and I want to really learn to walk her through that in the best way possible.”
Tish revealed that after a month of being together, she knew that Dominic was the one for her to start a new journey with.
“After a month when we really knew it was something great,” she says, adding that Dominic told her that this is “my chance to be the best version of myself.”
Tish couldn’t help but gush about her love.
“Dom’s awesome, yeah, he’s great,” she says. “He’s just really stepped up and shown up and done it all right.”
Tish and Billy Ray announced the end of their 30-year marriage in April 2022. Looking back, the podcast host reflected on what kept her in her broken marriage for so long.
“I was in a marriage for 28 years from the time I was 24,” she says. “I met my first husband, and I look back and I was so afraid to leave. Fear of being alone, fear of starting over, fear of all of it, just fear. And I look back now, and there’s so much shame in it, this relationship is so different.”
Tish and Dominic announced their engagement in April 2023, just three months after kicking off the new year by going Instagram official with their love. The pair tied the knot in August 2023, during an intimate wedding ceremony in Malibu that was attended by Tish’s daughters, Miley Cyrus, Brandi Cyrus and son, Trace.
Missing from the ceremony was her and Billy Ray’s children, Noah Cyrus and Braison Cyrus.
Amid the news of her relationship with Dominic, Tish and Noah’s relationship became strained, amid the rumors that Noah had a relationship with Dominic prior to his marriage to Tish.
In May, after Noah attempted to mend fences with a public birthday shout-out to her mother, a source told ET that the mother-daughter duo’s relationship is still strained.
“Noah and Tish’s relationship is still very strained, but things are improving. Noah texted Tish for her birthday on May 13 and Tish was happy to hear from her,” the source said. “This whole drama has been upsetting for Tish and she has reached out to close friends for advice on how to fix things.”
Last month, Tish took to Instagram to publicly show her leading man some love in a sweet post.
“Thank you for taking such good care of me. I thank GOD everyday that you are the MAN you are….. I love you ❤️ @dominicpurcell,” she wrote.
