Gypsy Rose Blanchard Shares How She ‘Experimented’ in Prison With Her Sexuality

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is getting candid about her sexuality.
On Monday’s episode of Gypsy Rose: Life After Lockup, the 32-year-old spent her second day out of prison with family, friends and her then-husband, Ryan Anderson. In the short period of time she was out, Gypsy and Ryan had the chance to finally consummate their marriage.
While the act of being sexual with her husband wasn’t a problem, Gypsy shared that she was a little worried about the first time with her husband.
“A big part of womanhood is learning to be comfortable with their sexuality and for years I wasn’t,” she said. “I’m self-conscious because I have scars all over my body, and I had a lot of surgeries that were unnecessary so I’m like, ‘Am I gonna be what he wants me to be? Am I attractive to him?’ Even to the point that I’m like, ‘Don’t even look at me down there.’ And he’s like, ‘It’s OK.'”
Gypsy admitted that she wasn’t always sure of her sexual orientation, and did different things during her time in prison to help her figure it out.
“For a long time, I actually kinda questioned my sexuality because as a teenage or preteen I felt that I was attracted to girls and I got to experiment with that in prison,” she said. “I think I’ve kissed more girls than I have guys. I had such big fears that I’m not gonna like sex.”
Gypsy added that she was “discovering” things about herself since having sex with her husband.
“I’m like, ‘I’m a freak,'” she exclaimed.
Gypsy was in prison for seven years after being convicted for her role in the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. While in prison, Gypsy and Ryan tied the knot. In March, the pair announced that they would be ending their marriage, with Gypsy filing for divorce.
Last month — ahead of her reality series that chronicles her life outside of jail — Gypsy spoke to ET about her decision to end her marriage.
“I don’t regret the relationship with Ryan, but I do regret getting married in prison so fast. Living with someone is so much different… now in hindsight, I understand where [people] were coming from,” Gypsy said.
She revealed that the decision to end the marriage wasn’t due to a single incident but rather a culmination of factors, despite media claims that trivial issues were to blame. “It wasn’t anything like what the headlines were saying about a fridge and food… it was a bunch of things that all compiled together,” she clarified.
Gypsy is currently in a relationship with her ex-fiancé and current boyfriend, Ken Urker. Speaking to ET about that, the reality TV star said they are taking things slower.
“I have to be paroled to my family… we’re not gonna live together… we’ll visit each other, we’ll see each other, we’ll hang out, we’ll date and do this the right way,” she said.
