Viola Davis can’t help but gush over her daughter.

The 58-year-old actress smiled from ear to ear when she showed off her teenage daughter, Genesis, whom she adopted in October 2011 with her husband, Julius Tennon. Davis got emotional in an Instagram post on Friday about how her baby girl is now all grown up, turning 14 years old on Wednesday.

“Me and my soon to be 14 yr old. Love her soooo much ❤️❤️❤️,” The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes star captioned her post.

In the sweet photo, Genesis, who was born on July 10, 2010, smiles standing next to her mom in their kitchen. Davis is even more cheerful and wraps her arm around her daughter’s waist, revealing that the two are almost the same height now.

Celebrities in the comments section couldn’t believe how fast Genesis has grown up.

“Genesis. So grown up. So beautiful!🤩😍❤️,” journalist Deborah Roberts wrote.

“She so big now!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰 #auntieloni,” comedian Loni Love penned.

“Goodness!!!! Bless you both!!❤️,” actress Gina Torres commented.

Genesis may or may not be following in her mother’s footsteps. She made her big screen debut in The Angry Birds Movie 2 in 2019, voicing hatchling Vivi. Davis revealed to ET in April 2023 if her daughter has the acting bug.

“I don’t know if she wants to,” the EGOT winner said of Genesis taking up acting, adding that she’s “like, ‘eh'” about the prospect.

Whether Genesis decides to pursue acting or not, Davis and Tennon plan to support their daughter. “We are going to support whatever it is she wants to do,” Tennon added to ET at the time, “but we don’t know what that’s going to be yet.”
